I talk a lot in my new book about how I believe everyone needs a space in their home that really feels like THEM. It’s important to have a peaceful spot to recharge, relax and just spend some quiet time. Especially when you are a busy mom. I’m CRAVING some downtime (alone) right now and it had me thinking about this special room we did for a wonderful client. She decided to make this small living space her “lady den”. A place to read, have a cup of tea ( or glass of wine) while watching TV, chat with a friend…. a space just for her. Isn’t that dreamy? And to make it even better, she really let us have fun in here!

Spring and summer means it’s time to throw open the windows and let some fresh air in, and with that add some new touches to our interiors to make it feel more summer-y! And while wicker and woven accents are ALL the rage in fashion accessories (I’m looking at you handbags, jewelry and shoes), it’s also a hot time for those same textures as INTERIOR accents too!
recently showed off some additions to his home in AD, many of which are wicker pieces!

As you may have seen on , we went to Nantucket for a little family getaway Sun-Tues and had a blast. We try to get over to Nantucket every year, and this time it was a little challenging, but way more fun to bring Henry along. The little guy really took to the island, which isn’t suprising. It’s a wonderful place that is totally geared towards family time and kids.

How sweet is this picture of Andrew and Henry? I wanted to leave you this week with a little father’s day gift guide since I know it can be hard to figure out what to get the men in our lives! Here are a few Andrew-approved items some that I think are pretty sweet (like that ping pong table!)

I am so excited to show you this project today- it’s a personal favorite not only because I think it came out beautifully, but also because we worked on this with my dad and his architecture firm, He’d been working with these clients for a while and when they decided to rework the layout of this house and redo the bathrooms, master suite and do a facelift on most of the main spaces in the house, he asked me if I was interested in helping- which was of course very flattering. Also, we grew up spending summers in this beach-side town in Connecticut, so it was fun to go back and visit.
As you may be able to tell already, this client LOVES blue and white. And good thing- because we do too! She had these sofas that she wanted to re-use so we reupholstered them in this great durable fabric and piped them in ivory and that set the tone for the whole space. The big statement mirror was the perfect modern, beachy piece to compliment the white woodwork and the amazing unobstructed views of the ocean. The room-length window seat offers tons of extra seating for entertaining.

When I was getting dressed this morning the forecast was really confusing- sunny and nice but also really windy which makes it feel cold. So I ended up in white ankle jeans but topped with a beige turtleneck sweater and pale loafers. Eliza in my office said I was dressed like Diane Keaton in “Something’s Gotta Give”, which was basically the highest compliment EVER because my life goal is to become a middle aged woman in a Nancy Meyers movie, living in cashmere in the summer and drinking white wine at the beach while discussing my existential emotional crises. I mean, let’s be honest here.
Ok, back on the topic- the weather this time of year can be super schizophrenic and hard to dress for. It’s ALL about layers and the dichotomy of spring and fall looks blended into one. Sweaters can TOTALLY be worn with shorts in my book, and it’s the ONLY time of year when closed toed mules are the perfect footwear. So here are a bunch of outfits that work for those up and down temperature days!
