I saw this room designed by the fabulous Celerie Kemble on Pinterest the other day and fell madly in love. I’ve been dying to use this wallpaper on a project for a year or more, and this application is just perfection! It also brought up this question- is brown back? After years of grey and black ruling walls and upholstery, is this warmer color due for a resurgence in decor? The answer is yes (in my opinion)- as long as it’s a modern day version of brown, like this wallpaper, which is a grey-brown or “cool brown”. Warm, medium browns still remind me of the early 2000’s when I had a chocolate dining room AND a chocolate sofa. But I think grey-brown tones are going to be the hot dark wall color this year, mark my words ( I’m struggling not to say “50 Shades of Brown”…ooops, there I go.)

A fabulous dark brown/grey color is Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze- it looks great on both walls and doors!
A lighter greyish brown I love is Farrow & Ball’s Charleston Gray. It’s a totally complex color that is both rich and light!
